Week1 (October 12th and 13th)
The first day, I was really nervous, so I didn’t sleep well. When I met with the worker for the first time, I couldn’t understand what she said because she spoke in English very fast. The first day, I learned how to use the science equipment because I had to explain the customers about them. It was excited to use the science equipment, but it was difficult for me to teach the customers how to use them. Also, the children came to the science center every Thursday because they joined the robot class. Although one of the children asked me the question about how to assemble the robot, I didn’t understand how to assemble it. Also, I had a lack of my communication with him. Honestly, I’m afraid of communicating with the children in the first and second day.
Week2 (October 19th and 20th)
I looked after a little kid. His age is about 4 years old. I tried to teach him how to use the science equipment, but it was difficult for me to teach him about them. I regret when he asked me some questions, I couldn’t answer the questions. I should answer the questions without being afraid of making mistakes. When I explained about the science equipment to the customers, it was important to show how to use the science equipment. In that way, it is easy to understand how to use them. I talked with the customers in this day than before.
Week3 (October 26th and 27th)
I didn’t have confidence before I started in this week because I was afraid of making mistakes. I tried to communicate with children who joined the robot class, but I didn’t know what to say to them. I found it more difficult to talk with children than with adults. I like the kids, but I was afraid of mistakes in front of them. However, I have experience one of the happiest things in this day. My coworker said to me “I always appreciate for your help.” I was surprised and happy when I heard to this sentence. It motivated me to work harder.
Week4 (November 2nd and 3rd)
I could understand what to do next when one of the workers didn’t come to the science center yet. One of the girls who joined the robot class asked me questions. However, I kept hearing it over and over again. I tried to answer the question, but the girl was confused by my answer. I have to talk more clearly and answer the questions with confidence. I liked to work at the science center because I like to talk with coworker. However, I sometimes didn’t understand what they said.
Week5 (November 9th and 10th)
One of the coworkers was holiday, so I feed for lizard for the first time. I cut the vegetable, fruits, and small mouse. I was surprised at first that coworker cut the small mouse without any hesitation. I tried to cut the mouse, but I felt bad because the organs came out when I cut them. It took a long time to cut them. I did another task in this day. I got the kids name and checked the box for robot class. They told me their name, so I was happy. One of the interested things was that the coworker gave me fossil, so I will bring back to Japan as the souvenir.
Week6 (November 16th and 17th)
One of the boys who joined the robot class talked to me. I had a great time. We talked about gears because the artworks in which the gears were used were on display in the science center. We saw how the gears move and how to connect the parts. I also talked with his family. His youngest sister asked me the question, so I tried to answer it. On the other hands, one of the customers asked me “Is this place opened all the time?”, so I said “Yes.” However, coworker came out because he appeared on TV shows at that time. The science center was closed from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m. I should answer “Today is closed from 12 p.m. to 1 p.m.”
Week7 (November 23rd and 24th)
The final day, one of the happiest things was that the coworker gave me the letter and the bird badge. I was surprised and sad. One of the boys who joined robot class said to me “Congratulations!”, so I was really happy. It was difficult for me to work at the science center, but it was a very good experience. The worker always said to me ” I appreciate for your help.”, so I felt so happy.
